A Day in the Life
The Director of Enterprise Accounts (DEA) has leadership responsibility for developing the Administrative and C-Suite relationships at key enterprise accounts in the Northeast market (specific accounts TBD), driving Medtronic revenue and market share growth, and for coordinating IDN and hospital-specific strategies that match the unique breadth of Medtronic’s enterprise portfolio of product and service offerings to extend and strengthen Medtronic’s market position. The primary work will be partnering with other DEA’s (representing Cardiovascular, Neuroscience, and Surgical business groups) as well as the Vice President of Enterprise Accounts, Operating Unit (OU) Area Vice Presidents (AVP), Regional Vice Presidents (RVP) and Regional Sales Directors, as well as District Managers in each of their Enterprise accounts to lead cross-functional team collaboration in order to position all Medtronic business units to grow market share, extend our competitive advantages, and deliver best-in-class innovation to our customers and patients. The DEA will partner with the field to build mutually preferred partnerships within their enterprise accounts and will make decisions that drive the growth across the entire portfolio. This leader will work across the hospital system and clinical and operational leadership teams to shift the conversation from traditional product sales to co-developing strategies that support the customer’s strategic priorities in their markets over the long term.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties:
- Developing and maintaining Senior/C-Suite level relationships with strategic partners and working with them to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
- Develops and drives appropriate portfolio management strategy in collaboration with the Business Units to expand and protect market share, optimize pricing strategy, and build long-term contractual agreements and relationships with clients and strategic partners.
- Responsible for understanding the assigned account's strategic priorities and developing appropriate value-added programs for each account.
- Develops, communicates, and implements business plans to achieve strategic target business results.
- Identifies and develops ongoing mutual opportunities for sales growth with key strategic accounts.
- Management and supervisory sales professionals focus on direct sales and operational activities for one or more specified business units. Levels within the sales management career stream typically have multiple direct reports. The majority of time is spent overseeing their area of responsibility, managing performance, talent development, diversity and inclusion, communication business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and / or indirect reports, but may involve direct sales participation as appropriate.
- Autonomy: Leads the execution of functional and sales strategy to accomplish corporate objectives, strategy and plans.
Directs the overall sales operations in assigned area of responsibility.
Drives sales programs for new business and greater market and account penetration. - Organizational Impact: Manages the overall operations of the country / business managed and takes significant operational decisions.
Influences business decisions by recommending sales and operational initiatives and strategies.
Allocates organizational resources in alignment with strategic priorities.
Operationalizes organizational policies and directs the execution of sales strategies established by functional leadership. - Innovation and Complexity: Stays abreast of and anticipates important global activities and trends that could impact the business.
Problems and issues faced are complex, difficult and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
Establishes sales organizational policies in a major segment or function and directs the execution of functional strategies. - Communication and Influence: Communicates and conducts briefings with senior or executive leadership regarding ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
Influences across functions and businesses to negotiate and gain cooperation on operational issues and internal divergent objectives. - Leadership and Talent Management: Leads and manages a small country/ region or business operations.
Creates workforce and staffing plans to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results.
Authorizes hiring, firing, promotion and reward within own area; coaches and mentors key members of business area/region.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Requires broad sales, business development and management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas within a country, region or business. Has a broad understanding of organizational context and comprehensive knowledge of the market sector and environment.
- Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant sales experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant sales and leadership experience.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate across various operating units and functions, managing complex projects and initiatives.
- Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that drive business growth and improve customer satisfaction.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, forecasting, and budgeting processes to manage the financial performance of enterprise accounts effectively.
- Exceptional skills in building and maintaining long-term relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance, ensuring that all account activities adhere to Medtronic’s standards and policies.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$215,000.00 - $215,000.00
This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
U.S. Pay Transparency (for SIP, Commission, Hourly Direct, Interns, Executives)In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.
